As Azuka continues to grow theatrically, so does our commitment to giving back to the community. Stages In Education provides outreach programs to schools in the Philadelphia area, with a focus on performance and artistic expression. Teaching artists provide students, both in the classroom and in after-school programs, with support and guidance as they explore their own creativity to produce new works and performances. The teaching artists will work with teachers to create a program that will best serve the needs of their students.
In 2005, Azuka Theatre launched its educational/outreach program at William H. Bodine High School on North Fourth Street in Philadelphia. We are proud to still maintain our relationship with Bodine, while expanding into other local schools.
Azuka Theatre knows the impact theater can have on young minds. Our goals for this program remain two-fold: to introduce theater arts to students thereby encouraging their creativity and imagination. Also, to establish in the minds of these young students the power and pleasure one can derive from live theater, thus helping to create the audiences of tomorrow!
