Playwright

Rayne (they/all) is a Black, Non-Binary multidisciplinary artist from Southwest Philadelphia. They create to inspire decolonization, joy, play, and healing - believing it is our duty to build utopia. Rayne was in the inaugural cohorts of The Strides Collective Emerging Playwrights Residency and Jouska PlayWorks, respectively. They are a recipient of HATCH, Rockland Woods Residency, and finalist for Shattered Globe’s Global Playwright Series. Recent credits include: The Medusa Play - the first play by a Black student performed on the mainstage of their alma mater leading to a professional Barrymore Recommended production at Shoe Box Theatre Collective, Every Everyman and Germantown Plays Pericles  - developed and commissioned by Shakespeare in Clark Park, A Soft Landing - commissioned by Elevate Theatre Company and produced at their Frontline Healthcare Workers Theatre Festival, WHISPER -  premiered at Director’s Gathering DG Jam 2020 and produced by Upstream Performance Collaborative. Other commissions include: A Soft Landing (Philadelphia Women’s Theatre Festival), Dandelion (Revolution Shakespeare), and Journey to Wholefoodsland  (Lupine Performance Cooperative). Rayne is currently commissioned by Christ Church Neighborhood House for their “On Buried Ground” project. With praise from the Token Theatre Friends podcast, their play MASC, formerly Twenty-Six, is currently in-development.
