Actor Submissions

In an effort to reduce the unpaid time and costly resources required of Philadelphia performers to submit for auditions, Azuka Theatre has moved to a simple digital submission process.

Playwright Submissions

If you are interested in submitting a script for development through Azuka’s Rising Writers or New Pages programs, please visit our New Play Development Submissions page!

Do you have a new play you’d like to see produced at Azuka?

At Azuka, we champion new work that amplifies the stories of the underdogs and the outcasts. Across generations, cultures, gender identities, and more, Azuka tells stories that ask audiences to embrace community and radical empathy. If your work aligns with Azuka’s mission, consider applying below!

If you would like Azuka Theatre to consider your new play for an upcoming season, please complete the form linked below.  We do accept agent submissions and regularly attend readings, festivals, and productions at local and national venues. Since our developmental and production opportunities are generally programmed through these channels, our staff is not equipped to accept unsolicited scripts via email. Before reaching out to us, we recommend you peruse our history and production archives to get a better understanding of the kind of material we produce.

All materials will be reviewed. Please be advised it may take up to 1 year for us to respond to work we are interested in pursuing further.  Due to the volume of submissions, Azuka staff may only reach out to you if we are interested in exploring your work further or building a relationship with you as a playwright.

To apply you will need:

  • A full PDF copy of your script

  • A short synopsis of your script

  •  A playwright’s statement

Thank you!
